The Goldhofer Bison series are tow bar aircraft tractors used for positioning larger aircraft.

The machine number is not marked on the model or the packaging but optically it appears to be closest to a D 1000.

Packaging

The model comes in a Goldhofer branded box with good quality foam packaging inside.

The review model had no defects or missing parts.

An instruction sheet is included with the model, but there is no information about the real machine.

Detail

Underneath the construction is fairly simple, but the axles are detailed in plastic,  The tyres have a good tread pattern and the wheels are detailed in plastic.  Small plastic jacks are modelled at each corner.

At the front the cab is metal with triple seats inside, windscreen wiper,s and good beacon lights on the roof.  A small Goldhofer badge and chevrons give a realistic appearance.  The towing attachment is made of red plastic, and as there are three in the model set, it would have been better if painted metal parts had been developed.

The body sides are plain with small graphics adding detail, and there are nice large bison graphics also.

At the rear the detailing is good with coloured lights.  Cable connection points are detailed by graphics.

On top there is textured surfacing with the ballast blocks being metal.

The optional rear driving platform has detailed controls and a mirror to provide the driver with visibility of the towing hitch.

Features

Both axles have an excellent range of steering movement and all the steering modes of the real tractor can be replicated, including crab steering.

The tractor rolls without being free rolling.

The jacks can be extended and will support the model wheels-free.

The pins in the towing hitches can be removed.

The ballast blocks can be added or removed.

At the front the cab elevates to allow the driver to have a good view to the rear.

The optional rear driving platform can be attached.

Quality

This is a robust well made model.

The paintwork is very good, and the graphics are sharp.

Price

It is moderately priced.

Overall

This is an interesting model of an airport tractor, and is the latest in a line of such models made by Conrad.  It is nice quality with very good functionality.
