| Comment on this model.
This model is from the Corgi Hauliers of Renown series.
This model features the newly tooled Super Curtainside Trailer. Extended trailers allow operators to carry higher volumes of goods but still meet the existing regulations with regard to maximum permitted weights and turning circles
It is a limited edition in the colours of Eddie Stobart, which is one of the largest and most well-known transportation companies in the UK.
The tractor modelled is 'Lucy Hannah' from the Stobart fleet.
Packaging
The model comes in a high quality presentation-style box. Inside, the model is contained within a plastic-lined expanded polystyrene tray with a clear plastic lid.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.
Included with the model is a Collector Card which gives some background to the super curtainside trailer.
The only assembly required is to attach the mirrors and aerial to the cab. Airlines can be fitted from the tractor to the trailer.
Detail
The Scania R440 tractor is a 6x2 and underneath the transmission is modelled in metal with a simple front end. Large rivets are visible on other parts. The thin tyres are the same on each of the good-looking wheels and there are thin mud flaps at the rear.
The cab paintwork and graphics are very good. There is an aerial and solid rooflight on the roof and a realistic number plate front and rear. The interior detail is simple. Behind the cab there are coiled air lines, the wheel arches are metal and the rear light clusters are coloured strips.
The curtainside trailer chassis has a detailed metal structure and the wheels have impressive tyres. The twin landing legs have plastic cam feet. The under-run protection bars are plastic.
The curtainsides are plastic but with realistic moulding detail and very good graphics and the tie-downs look fine. The front is metal with some small graphics. At the rear the doors have the hinges and bolts detailed within the casting, and a stand-out aspect is the graphics on the doors.
Features
The tractor rolls reasonably and it has notched steering which achieves a moderate angle, so more interesting poses are possible.
The trailer can stand on its support legs with the cam feet rotated down and it is reasonably level. The rear wheel steering of the real trailer has not been implemented.
Quality
The model is strong with a high metal content on the tractor.
The paintwork and graphics are very good.
Price
The model is reasonable value.
Overall
This is an interesting model of a new trailer type in a famous livery. It would have been nicer if rear wheel steering had been implemented to reflect the extended nature of the trailer better. However as usual for Corgi it is a very good looking model.
Footnotes
The model first appeared in the Corgi second half 2013 catalogue. It was made in a limited edition of 2500 models.
