This truck is a Western Star 4700 SF Truck Mixer.
It is in a Western Star decoration.
Packaging
The packaging consists of a cardboard outer shipping
carton which encloses a very high quality drawer-style tray
within a picture sleeve.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review
model.
Included with the model are a
couple of parts to add to the
model. The box has some details of the real truck.
Detail
The chassis has the engine,
gearbox and transmission detailed in plastic but looks
fine, and there is a large black tank which has a
plastic look. The
chromed tanks and boxes are good, and there are
soft mud flaps. The plastic wheels are
detailed and there are different tyres front and rear.
The front grille is very good and there is a tiny
Western Star badge
at the top. The lights and front bumper look nice
also, although there is no number plate as this is a
generic truck.
Around the cab the chrome work is very good and the
mirrors are plastic. The steps are textured.
The exhaust stack is detailed and inside the cab
the seats have the Western Star logo printed on.
There is an array of lights and horns on the roof.
The mixer drum is plastic with a very good
paint finish and Western Star graphics.
At the front of the mixer the motor and tank are
modelled.
At the back there is a plastic access ladder and
platform at the hopper. The chute and extensions are
also plastic.
Features
The steering has a limited range of movement, and the
model rolls well.
The hood tilts forward to about 45° and can pose in a
tilted position. The engine underneath is detailed.
The drum spins freely.
Two extension chutes can be clipped on, and the
chute can be rotated from side to side.
Quality
This model is well made with a fairly high plastic
content.
The paintwork and graphics are to a high standard.
Price
It is reasonable value.
Overall
This is a decent model by Diecast Masters.
It has a relatively high plastic content, but overall it
looks good.
