This is a model of the Mammoet Mercedes-Benz Arocs 6x 4
together with a 7 axle Nooteboom Trailer equipped with a
Fassi Loader Crane.
Packaging
The model comes in a
long high quality box enclosed by a Mammoet-branded sleeve
with a photo of the real real truck. Inside the box the
model is held in high quality foam.
The review model had no missing parts or defects.
A uniquely numbered Mammoet certificate is also
included, but there is no information about the real
truck. Some detail about loading configurations
would have been helpful.
Detail
The Arocs has a detailed 6x4 chassis. The
transmission components are modelled and the tyres are different on the steering and driven axles.
The wheels are very detailed and the hubs are
highlighted in red.
At the front there is a limited edition number plate
fixed in the wheel arch.
The cab has an air horn and aerial on the roof together
with a nice light bar. The Arocs grille is impressive
and it has a fixed Dutch transport sign. The many
graphics are very sharp and there is a fleet number on
the cab. There is a realistic number
plate .
Behind the cab there are boxes with nice chrome work, and there are
coiled lines. Diamond
plated surfaces are in front of the fifth wheel.
At the rear the lights have lenses and the mud flaps
have graphics.
A driver is included as a separate part. It is detailed
with Mammoet printed on the back.
The trailer has excellent detail on the underside at the
front, including a turntable for the king pin and the
structure of the timbers. There are simple landing
legs, and the rest of underside is simply detailed.
At the front is a containerised office which has metal
grab rails at the front. There are detailed
graphics on the deck edges including a yellow stripe.
The deck has special frames and brackets fitted which
are bespoke for carrying winch assemblies and spreader
plates. There is an access ladder on one side
which is permanently in the down position which is a
pity and it would have been much better if it could have
been folded up.
On the rear of the deck is a small Fassi Loader Crane.
It is mainly metal with some nice details.
The back of the trailer has detailed graphics and
lights.
Features
The Arocs has very good steering movement.
A separate fifth wheel is provided so the tractor can
accommodate trailers with a larger kingpin.
The cab has opening doors. These work well, and
open to a good angle.
The driver can be inserted in the cab, but it is fiddly
to do so.
The trailer has proportional steering on the rear 6
axles but the steering is fouled a bit by the access
ladder towards the rear.
The Fassi crane can be rotated and posed in a lifting
position and it has a telescopic section too.
However, the rams are not stiff enough to hold much
load.
Quality
This is a high quality model with a high metal
content.
The paint finish and graphics are also high quality.
Price
It is a limited edition and unusual model, and is priced
accordingly.
Overall
This is an interesting heavy haulage model and
would go well suitable crane components as loads and the
separately available Pool Car.
It would also look good as part of a Mammoet
fleet.
