This model is a Schwing
S 51 SX Concrete Pump mounted on a Mercedes-Benz Arocs
10x4 chassis.
The maximum concrete output is 162m³ per hour and it has
a vertical reach of 51m.
Packaging
The model comes in a Schwing branded box.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review
model.
There is no information about the real machine
or the model. Separate parts included are the hopper
cover, a dozen spreader plates and and two black hoses.
Detail
Underneath, the chassis is fully detailed in
metal with only the steering linkages being modelled for
functionality rather than detail. The tyres
have a decent tread pattern which and the steering axles have wider tyres.
The cab has a see-through roof light and a distinctive Arocs
grille. There is a dummy number plate.
Inside the cab, the seats have arm rests.
The front outriggers are metal with the unique curved
Schwing design. The rear outriggers are metal also.
The black pistons have visible screw threads, and the spreader
plates are plastic.
The carrier body has a metal structure, with nice
textured walking surfaces. Wheel chocks are
visible behind the protection bars between the axles.
The detailing of the pump is very good with hydraulic
hoses adding to the look.
At the back there are lights and a number plate, and the
bumper bar has colour highlights..
The hopper is metal with a plastic grille and a metal
cover. A particularly nice detail is the control
panel at the back with its coloured parts.
The boom sections are metal with hydraulic pipe details in the casting,
and the pipework is plastic with an excellent colour
match. . The connection details at the joints are
complex and well done. The hydraulic hoses are excellent, being thin and soft.
There is a plastic discharge hose at the end, and two
extra lengths are included with the model.
Features
The truck rolls smoothly and the front two axles
have linked steering which can be posed to a very good
angle. The rear axle can be independently steered
although it was not fully grounded on the review model.
The rear outriggers fold out and the front ones extend.
The small pads can be lowered by unscrewing. The model
can be supported wheels free, and the multiple spreader
plates give different height options.
At the rear the hopper lid can be posed either open or
closed by plugging
in which is not quite as nice as a hinge.
The rear light bar folds to allow a truck mixer to get
close to the hopper.
The boom rotates smoothly.
The boom articulation works well and the rams were able
to hold almost all poses.
Two lengths of hose are included with the model but
there are no connectors. However, if a join is
made then an effective long length of hose can be
produced.
Quality
This is a heavy and fairly robust model which
gives it the feeling of quality.
The paint and graphics are excellent.
Price
It is reasonably priced.
Overall
This is a very nice large concrete pump model
with some impressive detailing.
Footnotes
The model first appeared at the
Bauma Exhibition 2023.
