| Hamm branded box. | | | Detailed roller frame. | | Simple underneath. | | A fairly compact heavy roller. | | Operator's area. |
| Hamm is part of the Wirtgen Group of companies. The Hamm 3412 HT is a smooth drum vibratory compactor with an operating weight of around 12 tonnes.
This is a model of the open version of the machine with a Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS).
Packaging
It comes in a Hamm branded box which has a few technical details about the real machine. It is held within two expanded polystyrene trays, and wrapped in soft paper.
The model is complete out of the box with no assembly to do.
Detail
Underneath, the detail is simple with the steering hydraulic rams visible. The metal wheels have nice rubber treaded tyres.
The body casting is good with the grilles delineated and the graphics are sharp with some being very small.
The operator's area has a metal roll-over protection structure (ROPS) and the handrails, seat, controls and lights are plastic. Silvered steps lead to the cab and there is a fuel filler pipe.
The drum has a smooth metal finish, and the frame is well detailed and looks convincing.
Features
The rubber tyres roll well and the drum turns smoothly.
The pivoted steering works well achieving an angle close to the 35º that the real machine achieves.
Quality
This is a smaller model which is relatively heavy with little plastic used. It is high quality with the paintwork and graphics being very good.
Price
It is reasonable value.
Overall
This is a solid model by NZG which is simple in some respects but is well executed. It is recommended.
Footnotes
The model first appeared in the NZG 2008 catalogue. A version of the model with an enclosed cab is numbered #666.
