| Haulotte is one of the largest access platform suppliers in the world.
The HA20 PX is a self propelled platform with an articulated and partly telescopic boom, and the basket is mounted on the end of a fly jib. It has a working height of just over 20m and a horizontal outreach of 13.5m.
Packaging
The box is a simple windowed design, with the model held by ties within polystyrene formers, and it has no information about the real machine or instructions for the model. There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.
Detail
There is no detail underneath the chassis. The rough terrain rubber tyres are mounted on nice metal hubs, and a realistic looking tie bar is present on both steering mechanisms.
The body of the machine is simply represented and would benefit from some increased detail such as warning notices or control panel. Most of the articulating boom is metal although the telescopic section and the basket and most connections are plastic. Unfortunately the colour match of the plastic is not close enough to the painted metal so the plastic construction is evident.
The basket has a semblance of a control panel but this is completely plain when some more detail might have been expected given that it is plastic.
Features
Both axles steer and they can be set to achieve a very hard lock so the model can turn on a very tight circle.
The body rotates well, and although articulating the boom requires some energy as it is stiff, this ensures that it can be set at any angle and remains there. Extending the telescopic boom is easy, and the basket angle and orientation can be set as desired.
The plastic elements at the end of the boom do ensure that the model is stable on its wheels and it has no tendency to tip at any setting.
Quality
The overall quality is quite good. The castings and paintwork are fine, although the plastic elements let the model down. Some more detailing would add to the look of the model.
Price
It is reasonable value for what is offered.
Overall
The HA20 PX is quite a nice small model, and looks good when posed with other models in a suitable scene. It is perhaps a pity that the opportunity was not taken to add some more detail in producing this version of a previously issued model.

The model was introduced in the 2008 NZG Catalogue. It appears to be a very minor reworking of the earlier NZG model 453.
