| Comment on this model.
This model is a Volkswagen T5 series. It entered full production in 2003 and the version modelled here is the pick-up variant.
Packaging
It is in an NZG-branded sleeve and inside it is held within a plastic display case.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.
There is no information about the model or the real vehicle.
Detail
The T5 is front wheel drive and the floor pan is detailed with a plastic exhaust system running to the rear of the vehicle. The rear axle suspension is modelled well but it is non-functioning. The wheels are convincing but the tyre design is the same on both axles.
At the front the VW logo is distinct and the grille and headlights are good, and there is a realistic number plate. The door handles are part of the casting and they are nicely highlighted with paint. There are two large beacon lights on the roof. Inside the cab the detail includes a textured floor.
Behind the cab the support bar is plastic as is the tool box, but it looks good. The pick-up load area has well detailed sides and at the rear the lights have plastic lenses.
Features
It rolls well and the steering is good achieving a realistic angle.
The model can be displayed in its display case, or removed by unscrewing two securing screws.
Quality
This is a well made model with a sparing and mainly appropriate use of plastic.
The painting is very good and the few graphics are sharp.
Price
It is moderate value.
Overall
Although the functionality is limited this is a good looking model which poses well with others. The display case also provides another option.
Footnotes
The model first appeared at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in 2014 and was available in October 2014. It was also made in other colours.
