| Comment on this model.
Hamm is part of the Wirtgen Group of companies. The Hamm H 7i is a vibratory compactor with an operating weight of 6.5 tonnes.
This model has a padfoot drum and an enclosed cab.
Packaging
It comes in a Hamm branded box with the model held within two expanded polystyrene trays, and wrapped in soft paper.
There is some information about the real compactor printed on the box.
The model is complete out of the box.
Detail
Underneath, there is a base plate and the steering hydraulic ram is visible. The metal rear wheels have highlighted bolt heads which look really good, and nice rubber treaded tyres with a robust tread pattern.
The body casting has painted grille positions at the rear so they are not see-through. The rear lights are nicely painted and there is a tiny Wirtgen logo at the back.
Textured steps lead to the cab and the controls and seat look good. The mirrors are plastic.
At the front the padfoot drum is metal and very nicely formed, and there are shaped material scrapers front and rear. The frame is really well done with highlighted bolt heads giving an authentic appearance.
Features
The rubber tyres roll nicely and the drum is very smooth in action.
The pivoted steering works achieving an angle of around 30º which is accurate to the real machine.
There is also some oscillation possible at the pivot point which is a good representation of action of the three-point swivel joint of the real machine.
Quality
This a high quality model which is nearly all metal.
The paintwork and graphics produce a very good finish.
Price
It is good value.
Overall
The H 7i is a nice quality model from NZG and it represents the real machine very well.
Footnotes
The model first appeared for the BAUMA 2016 exhibition. It was also made in smooth drum and ROPS versions.
