Comment on this model.

This kit provides spreader beams and lifting equipment to use with model cranes.

It is in black, and could be used with Mammoet coloured cranes and others.

Packaging

The kit comes in a high quality Weiss Brothers branded box, with the spreader beams resting in nice foam, and all other parts individually bagged.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review kit.

There is no information included with the kit. A parts list would have been useful.

Detail and Features

Three spreader beams are included and they are metal with a very good finish, and the capacity is marked with graphics.  There is one 100 ton beam and two tubular 50 ton beams.

Also in the kit are 8 nylon rope slings, four in each of two different lengths, and 8 web slings also in two different lengths of four each.  They are nicely made parts.

Moving back to metal, there are 8 wire rope assemblies, four in each of two lengths and they have nicely crimped loops.  There are also 8 chains with hooks in two lengths of four each, and they have a realistic small link size.

Completing the kit are diecast shackles with 8 rated at 55 tons, and 6 rated at 120 tons.  These are high quality parts with working screw locking bolts.  However as they are diecast they will not bend so care has to be taken when using them.

The key feature of the kit is its flexibility, with many different lifting arrangements able to be reproduced.

Quality and Price

This is a high quality kit which is finished well with very good paintwork on the spreader beams.

It is good value.

Overall

This kit is a reduced selection compared to the previous full kits, at a more affordable price.  There is no reduction of quality however, and it is a good set for model crane owners.

Footnotes

The mini kits were released in October 2016.
