This truck is a Volvo FH4 Sleeper Cab 10x4 Flatbed
with a Palfinger PK92002 SH Loader Crane.
The model is in the colours of the Finnish company
Kari Polvela Oy.
Packaging
The box is
the standard WSI type for a truck model.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review
model.
A generic manual is included which explains
the features of the Palfinger crane. There is no information
about the real truck.
Detail
The
Volvo chassis is a 10x4 arrangement and it is modelled
with metal suspension and transmission parts.
The wheels are very detailed with different tyres on the
steering and driven axles.
The cab
has an excellent front grille and there
is a realistic number plate and two dummy stabilisers at
the front. The graphics and colour scheme is very
attractive.
The deck is high quality with plastic replica timber in
part, and edge stripes are provided.
There are two-stage outrigger beams with metal pads, and
they are positioned in front of the rear axle, although
they cannot be raised fully and sit too low in a
transport pose.
At the back the lights
are tidy and there is
also a plastic clip-type towing hitch.
Small plastic container locks are provided which fit into the deck
and allow a container to be posed on the deck without
sliding about.
Also included are deck posts which can be fitted and
mostly stay in a straight pose.
The Palfinger crane is a very nice piece of modelling.
The outriggers are two-stage, and the pistons are
smooth. A set of small square spreader plates is also
included for the front and rear outriggers.
The base section has a nice fuel tank and tiny graphics
add to the realistic appearance.
The
boom sections appear to be thin-wall
metal, and they have a stiff profile whilst
being smooth in
operation. The final boom section has a small
fixed metal hook, and there is a lifting bar included.
A separate fly jib can be fitted although the modelling
scale means the last sections are not telescopic.
Features
There is linked steering
on the front axles and rear axle, although only a very limited range of movement is possible.
The cab tilts and stays tilted at a good angle.
Separate deck posts can be added to the load deck.
Container locks can be used to position a shipping
container.
The front outriggers can be stored in the upright position
and can be telescoped out and rotated, and the piston
lowered. The rear outriggers can be extended and
lowered. However they do not raise enough for a
realistic transport pose.
The crane rotates smoothly and the boom unfolds
with the rams having a decent stiffness, although the
boom will bleed down under long extensions, or with
loads.
The optional fly jib can be fitted, or left off.
The
separate lifting beam clips on
to the headboard when not in use.
Quality
This model is well made with a high metal content.
The paintwork is very good and the graphics are
sharp. However aspects of the finish of the review
model were not to the best standard.
Price
The model is reasonable value.
Overall
This is another attractive limited edition model with a
very functional loader crane, and just the rear
outriggers need a fix to allow them to be raised higher. It poses well with
loads on the deck.
Footnotes
The model first appeared in November 2017.
