This truck is a
Volvo FH4 Sleeper Cab 8x2 Flatbed
with a Palfinger PK 98002 Loader Crane.
The model is in the colours of the Swedish company
BA-Perssons Kranbilar. It was founded in 2001.
Packaging
The box is a standard WSI style and inside the model is
contained within a tray with a clear lid.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review
model.
A generic manual is included which explains
the features of the Palfinger crane. There is no information
about the real truck.
Detail
The
Volvo chassis is an 8x4 arrangement and it is fully
detailed with suspension and transmission parts.
The wheels have white trims with different tyres on the
steering and driven axles.
The cab
has coloured mirrors
and graphics on the windscreen, and the grille looks
great. There
is a realistic number plate and the graphics on sides of
the cab are very sharp.
The deck
is high quality with plastic replica timber in part, and
edge stripes are provided.
There are two-stage outrigger beams with metal pads, and
they are positioned behind the rear axles. The
pistons cannot be posed fully retracted however.
At the back the lights look good and there very nice
graphics on the rigid mud flap, although it was
positioned very low on the review model.
This may reflect how it was mounted on the real truck
originally.
Small plastic container locks are provided which fit into the deck
and allow a container to be posed on the deck without
sliding about.
Also included are deck posts which can be fitted and
mostly stay in a straight pose.
The Palfinger crane is a very nice piece of modelling.
The outriggers are two-stage, and the pistons are
smooth. A set of small square spreader plates is also
included for the front and rear outriggers.
The base section has a nice fuel tank and tiny graphics
add to the realistic appearance.
The
boom sections appear to be thin-wall
metal, and they have a stiff profile whilst
being smooth in
operation. The final boom section has a small
fixed metal hook, and there is a lifting bar included.
A separate fly jib can be fitted although the modelling
scale means the last sections are not telescopic.
Features
There is linked steering on the front axles and rear
axle, although the range of movement is minimal.
The rear axle can be clipped up out of service.
The cab tilts and stays tilted at a good angle.
Separate deck posts can be added to the load deck.
Container locks can be used to position a shipping
container.
The front outriggers can be stored in the upright position
and can be telescoped out and rotated, and the piston
lowered. The rear outriggers can be extended and
lowered.
The crane rotates smoothly and the boom unfolds
with the rams having a decent stiffness, although the
boom will bleed down under long extensions, or with
loads.
The optional fly jib can be fitted, or left off.
The
separate lifting beam clips on
to the headboard when not in use.
Quality
This model is well made with a high metal content.
The paintwork has a very good metallic-type finish and the graphics are
sharp.
Price
The model is reasonable value.
Overall
This is an attractive limited edition.
Footnotes
The model first appeared in
February 2019.
