Motorart - JCB JS220 Backhoe
Model Review May 2008

Features

The tracks are free rolling, and the body rotates smoothly.

The three cylinders on the boom all work well although those on the monoboom are not quite stiff enough to hold any angle with bleed occurring and the boom settling down.  The model is stable with the boom extended in any direction.

On the roof of the body there is an opening engine cover which reveals a detailed engine within the body.

Overall

JCB models are usually made by Joal so this model from Motorart is a welcome commitment to producing quality models at 1:50 scale.  With a little more detail and a few more features it could have been an excellent model.  In particular, metal tracks, more hydraulic hoses and a removable bucket would have been appreciated.  Even with this wish list the model is recommended.
