|
These parts are models of concrete bridge sections
including piers, crossheads and beams. The beams
are modelled after real ones weighing around 100 tonnes.
They are made in Australia by
BSR
Beams.
Packaging
The parts were delivered inside cut expanded polystyrene
shapes, and secured with tape.
There were no defects or missing parts on the review
model.
There is no information about the parts.
Detail
and Features
The parts are made out of cast concrete so they look
very realistic. The quality of the casting is very
good and for the most part the finish is even.
They are reinforced internally so they are not brittle
and can therefore take some load.
Flat bearing surfaces are very good so the parts stand
together well.
The beams have two pairs of cast-in lifting loops.
A particularly nice aspect is that the beams have been
cast with a smooth and convincing pre-camber.
Each beam weighs around 0.65kg / 1.5lbs.
If enough parts are obtained they can be combined to
make a multi-span viaduct, or placed side-by-side to
make a twin carriageway layout.
Quality and Price
They are well made, good quality parts, and are
reasonable value.
Overall
These
are very good bridge parts and being made of concrete
they look considerably better than resin parts.
They are ideal in a diorama posed with suitable
construction equipment, and the beams make an impressive
load for a large heavy crane, or on heavy haulage.
