Detail

The Volvo has a 6x4 chassis.  The transmission and rear axle suspension is detailed, with the steering axles modelled for functionality.  The tyre tread patterns are the same on all axles.

The cab is well finished in Mammoet colours.  It has beacon lights and stub aerials on the roof.  At the front the grille is detailed and there are some tiny graphics, and there is a license plate.  The cab has a fleet number with the interior being fairly plain.  The door mirrors are not silvered.

Behind the cab is a plastic cabinet with soft grab rails.  There are no coiled lines.  Non-slip plates are on the chassis, and at the back the lights are painted and there is a number plate.

The trailer is fairly simply modelled underneath with a number of visible screw heads.  The landing legs are modelled in tough plastic, and there are stabiliser legs at the rear.  The axle arrangements are also simple and there are rigid plastic mud flaps. The wheels look good with decent tyres.

The gooseneck has a spare wheel and wheel chocks at the front.  The fleet number and other graphics are sharp with the sides of the storage box being soft plastic.  The deck modelling represents different materials by paint colour and casting details, and tie down points are represented in the casting.  A silver stripe runs down the deck edges and a control console is modelled well.  At the back is a license plate and a Faymonville flap.

The boom section is a quality part with internal bracing at one end and Mammoet black and red colouring.

Features

The Volvo has linked steering of the front two axles which achieves a moderate angle.

The cab does not tilt.

The trailer has steering on the rear axle which works well.

The rear stabilsers can be lowered.

The deck can be extended to a good length.

The boom load can be added or left off.

Quality

This is a well made model which has a high metal content.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

It is competitively priced compared to other models in this sector.

Overall

Cavallino is a new name in the area of truck models and their focus is on a lower cost segment.  In this they have succeeded.  Although there are a few modelling compromises, it is a well presented good looking model which offers very good value.
