Comment on this model.

This model is of a historic truck, the Mercedes-Benz LAK 2624.  It is a 6x6 chassis fitted with a tipper body.

This version of the model is in the colours of Jean Lefebvre which was founded in France in 1927 as a family roadworks company, and became part of the VINCI Group in 2000.

Packaging

It comes in a standard Conrad branded box and the model sits in foam rubber.  The review model had no defects or missing parts.

The only assembly required is to fit width indicators and mirrors, which is easy to do.

Detail

Underneath, the chassis has the transmission and suspension modelled in detail with the transmission elements in plastic.  The treaded tyres are mounted on nicely detailed wheels with all tyres of the same design.

The cab is all metal and the lights within the front bumper have plastic lenses.  An excellent mesh radiator grille looks great and there is a tiny Mercedes logo on the front of the bonnet.  Under the engine cover is a metal engine block.  The cab doors have a nice Jean Lefebvre graphic.

On the side of the bonnet the Mercedes model number appears, and there are finely painted indicator lights.

Behind the cab the chassis is metal with good looking leaf springs on the rear axles.  The rear light clusters are painted and there is a towing hitch.

The tipper body is all metal with the structure modelled well.

Features

The front axle steers and has a very good range of movement.  The rear axles have a degree of movement to represent suspension.

The bonnet lifts up to reveal the engine and it can stay in a raised position.

The body tips to a very good angle with the rams being very stiff.  The tailgate opens and shuts.

Quality

This is a strong well made model.  It has a high metal content and is well finished.  The paint quality is good although some of the edges in two-tone areas were not completely crisp.

Price

The price is good for the quality offered.

Overall

This is a pleasing model of a historic truck and it appears to be the first in a series of historic models by the VINCI Webshop.  It looks good in the colours of Jean Lefebvre and is highly recommended.
