Comment on this model.
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is a general purpose van.
This version of the model is in the colours of
Cardem which is
a demolition company and part of the
VINCI Group.
Packaging
The model comes in a small Conrad branded box
with the model held inside a foam rubber wrapper.
The review model had no missing parts although the
rear doors did not close fully.
The only
assembly required is to fit the door mirrors.
There is no information supplied about Cardem or the real
vehicle.
Detail
The floor pan of the van is plastic with the
transmission and spare wheel holder detailed, and the axles
and steering is plastic. The wheels
have decent small tyres on plastic hubs.
At the front the Mercedes-Benz emblem stands out
and the main headlights have plastic lenses and it is
good to see a realistic
number plate.
The doors have nicely detailed handles and the interior
detail inside the cab is reasonable, with the interior
of the load area being unlined. The sides and roof have
casting details to represent the lines of the real van
and these look good, and the applied graphics are sharp.
The rear doors appear to be plastic and have reasonably discreet hinges given the
scale, although the fit was not so good on the review
model and some trimming of the plastic was required.
The graphics at the rear are interesting.
Features
The steering can be posed at a realistic angle without
being fouled by the wheel arches.
The two rear doors can be opened to a wide angle.
Quality
This is a reasonable small model
although this version has a higher plastic content
compared to previous versions, and the poorly fitting
doors on the review model were not so good.
The paintwork and graphics are applied
to a good finish.
Price
The model is a limited edition although it has reduced
functionality and more plastic than previous versions so
the value is lower.
Overall
This model goes well with others in Cardem livery.
However given the model number (1610 series) is the same,
it is surprising that it has reduced functionality with
no opening side door, and more plastic parts. The
previous versions of the model were better overall.
Footnotes
This Cardem liveried model appeared in July 2014 as an
exclusive edition for the VINCI webshop in a run of 300
models.
