This is a very unusual model from Conrad as there is no
Original Equipment Manufacturer's name on the model or
the packaging. It also does not have a model number
underneath. The OEM version of this model
appeared at the Toy Fair in 2013 as the Link-Belt 250
X3.
The body and track castings look to be derived from an
earlier Case CX240B excavator
model.
The model is in the colours of Heffner, a building
company based in Conrad's home town of Kalchreuth,
outside Nuremberg.
Packaging
The model comes in a Conrad branded box and it
is contained within a foam wrapping.
The review model had no defects or missing parts.
There is no information about the
real machine. Assembly is limited to the
attachment of a couple of mirrors.
Detail
The tracks are metal and they sit on track frames which
are reasonably detailed although there are no moving
parts other than the sprockets. The rivet on the main
drive sprocket affects the look of the model a little.
There is no detailing underneath.
The body is metal and the casting has a reasonable level
of detail within it, and the access handrail is also
metal. The cab has a reasonably detailed interior with a plastic
grab rail. Two mirrors are fitted although they do not
have silvered surfaces so they are not so realistic.
The boom and stick are metal castings with hydraulic
piping within the boom casting. Rubber hydraulic
hoses run from the body to the boom foot. The
plastic cylinder jackets are a little off colour
compared to the metal parts.
The bucket is cast well with good teeth.
Features
The tracks roll well and are mounted on spring-loaded
idlers that provide tension and allow them to be removed.
It rotates and the boom and stick have a very good range
of movement as does the bucket. The hydraulic
cylinders are stiff so the model can be posed in any
position.
Quality
This is solid model from Conrad with a high metal content.
The livery is fairly simple but the paint finish is very
good.
Price
The model is somewhat expensive for the detail and
features.
Overall
This is an unusual model because of the anonymous
identity of the machine maker and this may put off some
collectors. In another sense that makes it fairly
unique, and it looks reasonably good.
Footnotes
This model was released in July 2012.
