Comment on this model.

The Liebherr R 926 is a compact excavator and was introduced at the Intermat Exhibition in 2015.  It has an operating weight in the range 25 - 29 tonnes.

Packaging

The model comes in a Liebherr-branded box with the model packed within foam rubber.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

There is no information about the real machine or model. Assembly is limited to fixing two mirrors.

Detail

The undercarriage has metal tracks mounted on frames which have no working rollers.  There were slight moulding burrs on the plastic drive sprockets.

The dozing blade is modelled in metal.

The body is metal with detail in the castings.  The graphics on the body are very good and include a side grille.  The rear hand rails are thin metal and strong.

The cab has plastic grab rails and the windows have the seals marked with the windscreen wiper represented by graphics.  The mirrors do not have silvered surfaces, but the internal cab detailing is good.

Soft hydraulic hoses run to the boom, and also to the boom rams. The hydraulic detailing is to a high standard throughout the multi-section boom.  Detail is also enhanced with small graphics and careful castings.

The metal bucket is a nice casting with well defined teeth.

Features

The tracks roll well on a rough surface and are tensioned by springs in the idlers.

The dozer blade has a good range of movement and is stiff enough to hold any pose.

The model rotates well although there were sticky patches.

The aerial on the cab rotates in and out of a transport position, although the effect is redundant as the rear handrails cannot be folded.

The excavator boom has a good range of movement on all rams and any pose can be set.  The bucket movement is particularly good.

The bucket is removable and it is held in place with a simple clip system.

Quality

This is a solid and heavy small model with a high metal content.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

The model is moderate value.

Overall

It is a very good model with high functionality and a good level of detailing.
