The Liebherr R 920 Compact excavator has an operating weight in the range 20 tonnes.

Packaging

The model comes in a Liebherr-branded box with the model packed within foam rubber.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

There is no information about the real machine or model. Assembly is limited to fixing a mirror.

Detail

The undercarriage has metal tracks mounted on frames which have no working rollers.  The drive sprockets and idlers are plastic with a good colour match.

The dozing blade is modelled in metal.

The cab has plastic grab rails and the windows have the seals and windscreen wiper represented by graphics.  The mirror does not have a silvered surface, but the internal cab detailing is good.

The body is metal with detail in the castings including the Liebherr name embossed at the rear.  The graphics on the body are very good and a grille is formed of a textured insert.

The hydraulics are very good.  Soft hydraulic hoses run to the boom, together with silver pipes and more hoses crossing to the stick. Connection rivets are reasonably small.

The metal ditching bucket is a simple casting.  The quick connector is plastic.

Features

The tracks are stiff but roll well enough on a rough surface and are tensioned by springs in the idlers.

The dozer blade has a good range of movement and is stiff enough to hold any pose.

The model rotates smoothly without rocking.

The aerial on the cab rotates in and out of a transport position.

The boom and stick have a good range of movement on all rams and any pose can be set.  The bucket movement and digging depth is particularly good.

The bucket is removable and it is held in place with a simple clip system.

Quality

As usual Conrad has made a typically solid and heavy small model with a high metal content.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

The model is moderate value.

Overall

It is a solidly made model with very good functionality and some nice detailing.
