The Liebherr R 945 Hydraulic Excavator has an operating weight in the range 41 - 47 tonnes depending on configuration.

Packaging

The model comes in a Liebherr-branded box with the model packed inside foam backed with cardboard.

There were no missing parts on the review model. There was a defective finish on the counterweight and it is surprising and disappointing that Conrad's quality control did not prevent this model leaving the factory.

There is no information about the real machine.

Detail

The undercarriage has detailed metal tracks mounted on detailed frames which include plastic steps.  There are no working rollers.

The cab has a textured access step and a plastic grab rail with a non-silvered mirror.  The windows have the seals marked.  A large plastic debris guard covers the roof.  Internal detailing is good.

The body sides are metal with casting details including panel handles, and a grille is indicate by graphics.  The counterweight has the Liebherr name embossed on it but this was poorly applied on the review model. Smaller details include a video camera at the rear.  The hand rails are metal.

The roof is a plastic part and has a textured surface. Details include a plastic exhaust pipe and a plastic strip runs along the top of the counterweight.  A bank of hydraulic hoses run to the boom.

The hydraulic rams have plastic jackets with thin hydraulic pipes.  The boom has hydraulic pipes running along the top edge with short lengths of hose. There are lights mounted but they are dark plastic and so lack detail.

The stick is a metal part with a couple of yellow plastic brackets on the top edge.  There is a plastic quick coupler at the end of the stick.

Two buckets are included and both are metal parts.

Features

The tracks roll on a rough surface and are tensioned by springs in the idlers.  The track frames are retractable so can be posed in working or transport configurations.

The model rotates well.

The boom and stick have a very good range of movement.

The buckets are secured in position with a plastic pin.  The grading bucket pivots on its attachment point.

Quality

The model is strong and robust.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

The model is moderate value.

Overall

This is a medium quality model from Conrad which is not to the best of modern standards.
