Comment on this model.
The Terex Fuchs MHL 350E is designed for material
handling applications. Depending on configuration it
weighs between 33 and 38 tonnes.
Packaging
The model box is Terex Fuchs branded and celebrates 125
years of Fuchs. Inside the model
is contained within foam rubber.
There were no missing parts
or defects on the review model.
There is no assembly to do and there is no information
about the real machine or model.
Detail
The underside of the machine is fairly simple with the transmission
to each axle modelled although there are no steering
elements. The double-tyred plastic wheels
are detailed and they have a good tread pattern.
The undercarriage is metal with metal outrigger beams
and separate pads, and the rivet connections are very
small and hard to see.
The cab is metal with the window seals looking good
although there are no wipers or mirrors. Inside
the cab the detail level is average.
The elevating mechanism has visible small brass rivets
and the cable band is nice soft plastic.
The body
casting has panel and grilles detailed, and painted
lights front and rear. The graphics are nice including
the celebratory '125 Years' writing.
There are hydraulic hoses running from the body to boom
but none to the main boom and stick rams. Both the
boom and stick have pipes detailed within the casting. The
brass rivets used are small,
but visible.
The orange peel grab is plastic and it looks good.
Features
It rolls very well on its tyres but lacks any steering
or axle oscillation.
The outriggers can be lowered and the pads pivot. They
will hold the machine wheels-free.
The cab elevates and can be posed at any height.
It rotates well.
The movement of the boom and stick is very good and the
cylinders have enough stiffness to hold any pose.
It can be fully folded to make a good transport load.
The orange peel grab rotates on the connection and can
swing in two
dimensions. It opens and closes smoothly. It
is also pinned so can be removed to facilitate the 350
being posed on a transporter.
Quality
This is a strong and and well made model with a high
metal content.
The paintwork is very good with nice sharp graphics.
Price
It is reasonable value.
Overall
This model is a reworking of an earlier model to
celebrate 125 years since the founding of Fuchs.
As such the model shows its age a little in terms of
detail and the lack of steering, but on the other hand
it looks good and poses really well as a transport load.
Footnotes
The model first appeared at the Nuremberg Toy Fair
in 2014.
