Comment on this model.

This MAN TGA 6x4 truck with a high capacity tipper body.

It is in the colours of Sogea Satom, part of the VINCI Group which is active in Africa.

Packaging

The model comes in a standard Conrad box, and the model is wrapped in foam rubber.

The review model had no defects or missing parts.

There is no information provided about the real vehicle or instructions for the model.  The only assembly required is to fit the door mirrors and roof aerial.

Detail

The 6x4 truck chassis is detailed with most of the transmission and suspension made in plastic whilst the steering axle is modelled for functionality only.  The chassis structure is metal with the side under-run protection bars modelled in plastic.  The wheels look smart,  and the tyres are the same on all axles.

The MAN cab looks good and it has the Sogea Satom fleet number on the sides and front.  Some of the graphics are very small and sharp.  There is an unusual red number plate which is presumably from their activities in Africa. Under the cab the engine is modelled in metal.

At the rear the lights are painted and there is a number plate.

The tipper body is all metal and very robust.  The structure is nicely modelled.  The lift ram is multi-stage telescopic.

Features

The front axle steers and it can achieve a very good angle. The two rear axles have a degree of up and down movement to represent suspension.

The cab tilts forward and can maintain a tilted pose.

The tipper body can end-tip conventionally and it achieves a good angle.  At the rear the tailgate opens widely but it is not free-swinging.

Quality

This is a strong well-made model with a reasonably high metal content.

The quality of the paintwork and graphics is very good.

Price

The model is good value.

Overall

This is a fully functional tipper model with well implemented features.  It is also attractive.  Overall it is highly recommended.

Footnotes

The model was made in a limited edition of 500 models first appeared in November 2014.
