Comment on this model.

This model is in the colours of Cardem, the French demolition company which is part of the VINCI Group.

Packaging

The model comes in a Conrad branded box which holds the model within a foam insert.

The review model had no defects or missing pieces.

There is no information about the model or real vehicle.  Assembly is limited to attaching the door mirrors and roof aerial to the cab, and adding the grab.

Detail

The chassis is an 8x4, and underneath the transmission components are detailed in plastic with a short section of driveshaft missing because of the steering mechanism.  The tyres are mounted on good hubs with wider tyres on the steering axles.

The cab is detailed with textured door mirrors, windscreen wipers and aerials, and there is a realistic number plate.

Behind the cab there is good looking exhaust with a mesh finish.  The loader arm and grab are fairly simple, with non-functioning stabilisers.

The side impact protection bars are plastic and the textured wheel arches on the rear axles are metal.  At the rear lights are painted.

The roll-on roll-off container is robustly modelled in metal.  The structure is captured well, and the Cardem graphics are sharp.

Features

The steering works very well, and a very hard lock can be obtained.  The rear axles are floating which gives the impression of a form of suspension.

The cab tilts to reveal an engine block inside, and the cab can pose tilted.

The loader arm unfolds and can be posed in any position as the rams are stiff enough.  The loader arm stabilisers are non-functional.

The grab is removable, but cannot be left attached when the arm is folded for transport, and it is a little awkward to pose it adjacent to the loader arm.  The grab opens and closes.

The roll-on roll-off mechanism works well and the container can be posed at any position in the loading cycle.  By engaging a clip at the rear the container can be posed tipping.

The rear door of the container opens.

Quality

This is a robust well-made model up to the usual Conrad standards.  It is well engineered.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

The model is good value.

Overall

Conrad has a reputation for very good robustness and functionality and this model is another example.  It is a good addition to the 'Cardem' collection of models.

Footnotes

The model was made in a limited run of 300 models.
