Comment on this model.

This MAN TGS 6x4 truck has a Meiller Roll-off tipper body.

It is in the colours of Steinleitner, a German company based in Bavaria.

Packaging

The model comes in a standard Conrad box, and the model is wrapped in foam rubber.

The review model had no defects or missing parts.

There is no information provided about the real vehicle or instructions for the model.  The only assembly required is to fit the door mirrors and roof aerial.

Detail

The 6x4 truck chassis is detailed with most of the transmission and suspension made in plastic whilst the steering mechanism is modelled for functionality only.  The chassis structure is metal with the side under-run protection bars modelled in plastic.  The wheels look smart,  and the tyres have the same tread pattern on all axles.

The cab has the MAN model number TGS 26.480 printed on both sides, and some of the Steinleitner graphics are tiny and very sharp. However there are no number plates.  Under the cab the engine is modelled in metal.

At the rear the lights are painted and there is a plastic towing hitch.

The hook arm mechanism is mainly metal with plastic hydraulic ram jackets.  The tipper body is all metal and very strong.

Features

The front axle steers and it can achieve a very good angle. The two rear axles have a degree of up and down movement to represent suspension.

The cab tilts forward and maintains a tilted pose.

The roll-on roll-off mechanism works well and the body can be posed at any position in the loading cycle.  The container can also be posed tipping.

The rear door of the tipper body open fully.

Quality

This is a strong well-made model with a high metal content.

The quality of the paintwork and graphics is very good.

Price

The model is reasonable value.

Overall

As typifies a Conrad model this truck is robust and functional, and the features work well.
