Comment on this model.

This model is a MAN TGX XXL Euro 6 4x2 Tractor paired with a three-axle curtainside trailer.  In this decoration it is a promotional model made for MAN.

Packaging

The model comes in a Conrad branded box with the model protected by a foam rubber insert.

The review model had no defects and no missing parts.

There is no information about the real machine or the model.  The only assembly is fitting door mirrors and roof aerials.

Detail

The MAN chassis is detailed with a plastic drive shaft and the rear axle has the suspension modelled too.  At the front the steering is modelled for functionality only, although the gearbox is visible.  The tyre tread patterns are the same on all wheels with slightly wider tyres at the front.

The cab detailing includes aerials on the roof, and colour-coded door mirrors.  The standard of the metallic paintwork is very good and small graphics include 'Euro 6' and 'TGX 18.480'.  There are no number plates on this generic model.  Under the cab is an engine block.  Inside the cab details are reasonable.

Behind the cab there are fuel tanks and the wheel arches are plastic.

The trailer is heavy as the body is metal.  The axle suspension is modelled as is the spare wheel holder.  Tough plastic mud flaps are provided and the landing legs at the front are all plastic as is the under-run protection.

The body panels are plain with the curtainside tie-downs represented by graphics so there is no texturing such as seen with plastic curtainsides.  The MAN graphics on the side are high quality.

At the rear the doors are modelled with bolt and hinge details and the lights are painted.

Features

The MAN has working steering and it can be posed with a very hard lock.

The rear driven axles have a degree of vertical movement to simulate suspension.

The cab tilts but the range of movement was limited on the review model and so it is difficult to pose tilted.

The trailer has pull-down landing legs which can be set at any height.

Two of the rear axles have nice sprung suspension with the first axle having a constraint on the movement.

A nice feature is that the rear doors of the trailer can be opened.

Quality

This is a relatively heavy model with a high metal content, and is strongly made.

The graphics on the trailer are very good and the overall paint finish is high quality.

Price

The model is reasonable value.

Overall

This is a good looking truck model from Conrad and it has a very heavy trailer which is enhanced by the opening rear doors.  It has enough features to be highly recommended.
