The
Nooteboom Multitrailer MCOS Semi Low Loader has
hydraulic steering and a hydraulically-adjustable load
bed.
This version of the model is one of the Red Line series.
The MAN tractor has the fleet number T-201 and the
trailer is OPL-201.
Packaging
The model comes in a high quality Nooteboom branded box which holds the
model within black foam.
The review model had no
defects or missing pieces.
Assembly is limited to attaching door mirrors and
roof aerial to the MAN cab, and marker boards and a
cover to the trailer. Included with the model is a
Nooteboom Collector Card, although it is not uniquely
numbered. A small manual describes the real
trailer with photos included, and it also describes
features and assembly of the model.
Detail
The tractor unit is a 6x2 MAN TGX
XXL. Underneath, the suspension components are detailed in plastic, and there
is no transmission shaft. The
tyres are mounted on good looking wheels.
The cab is detailed with colour-coded
door mirrors, windscreen wipers, aerials, light bar and beacon lights.
Number plates are included, and the red colour scheme is
very attractive.
Behind the cab there
are metal tanks and the wheel arches on the rear wheels are
plastic. The rear lights have plastic lenses.
The MCOS semi low loader is three axle unit and
the tyres
are mounted on small plastic hubs which look reasonable.
There is some detailing underneath including tanks and
the front and rear landing legs are grey plastic. The deck has a nice textured surface, and the headboard
at the front has a spare wheel fitted. There is a
yellow stripe on the deck edges.
The two
ramps at the rear are nice looking whilst also
being robust, although there are no securing chains.
Features
The MAN tractor
front axle steering works very well, and a very
hard lock can be obtained if desired. Axle 2 also
steers although it is not linked to the front axle.
Axle 2 can be clipped up out of service and the height
of lift is good.
The cab tilts to reveal an engine
block inside, but the range of tilt is restricted before
resistance is felt, and the tilt cannot be maintained in
a pose.
The axles on the trailer all steer together in an impressive
way which is also proportional in that the rear axles steer
more than the front ones, and this works very well with
the rear axle achieving around a 30° angle.
The axles have fully sprung suspension.
The model features the hydraulically adjustable load
floor of the real trailer, and this has been implemented
very well.
The side of the gooseneck box are removable to
facilitate the loading of longer loads.
The cover on the gooseneck toolbox is removable and the
winch appears to be modelled inside.
The ramps fold down easily and they are also adjustable
sideways to suit different loads.
Marker boards can be pulled out from under the
gooseneck, and a separate pair can be fitted at the
rear.
Quality
This is a
very nice quality model which maintains the usual
standard of robustness for Conrad.
The paintwork and graphics are
mostly very good.
Price
The model is good value for the quality and features offered.
Overall
It has been many years since Conrad has produced a model
for Nooteboom, and this trailer and truck combination is
a very nice model with high functionality. It is
also very well presented.
Footnotes
The
model was announced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in 2017
and became available in March of that year.
