Comment on this model.
This MAN TGS M 4x2 truck has a Euro 6 engine and is
fitted with a
Meiller skip loader. The MAN type number is
18.400.
Packaging
The model comes in a standard Conrad box, and it is
wrapped in foam rubber.
The review model had no defects or missing parts.
There is no information provided about the real vehicle
or instructions for the model. The only assembly
required is to fit the door mirrors and roof aerial, and to
attach the skip.
Detail
The truck chassis is
complete with the transmission
and suspension modelled in plastic although the steering
axles are modelled for functionality only. The
main structure is metal, with the side protection bars
and rear wheel arches being plastic. The wheel hubs look particularly crisp and
the tyres have a good tread pattern.
The MAN cab detailing is very good with colour-coded door mirrors, and
the type number is rendered in sharp small graphics.
There is no number plate as the model is generic. Under the cab
an engine is present.
The bed of the truck has non-slip surfacing. The
skip mechanism is mainly metal with the telescopic
extenders being plastic. The hydraulic rams have
plastic jackets with a reasonable colour match, although
there are no hoses detailed.
The skip is a good metal casting with the silver chains
perhaps being a little oversize.
At the rear of the
truck the lights are painted, and there are plastic
stabilisers.
Features
The front axle
steers with a very good angle being possible and the
rear axle floats to represent suspension.
The cab tilts forward and can
maintain a tilted pose.
The truck can be posed with or without the skip.
At the rear, the stabilisers can be pulled down for use
during handling a loaded skip.
The skip mechanism works well and the full range of
poses can be set, including tipping. The arms also
extend to give extra reach.
Quality
This is a
strong model which is mainly metal although there are
plastic elements.
The quality of the paintwork is very good, and the few
graphics are sharp.
Price
The model is reasonable value.
Overall
As usual Conrad has produced a model with very good
functionality. It is reasonably detailed and is an
attractive model.
Footnotes
The model appeared in
June 2014, and a blue and white version was produced for
the MAN shop as model number 77216/01.
