This model is a Mercedes-Benz Arocs 4x2 with a six axle
Goldhofer trailer.
This model is in the colours of Sennebogen. It
represents a real truck, although the one shown on the
box is an Actros with Meusburger trailer. Also the
number of axles on the real trailer is not shown, and
given the tractor is only a 4x2, it may be less than the
six modelled here.
Packaging
The model comes in a high quality Sennebogen branded box which holds the
model within black foam.
The review model had no
defects or missing pieces.
Assembly is limited to attaching door mirrors and
roof aerial to the cab, and adding the ramps into the
storage box.
Detail
The tractor unit is a 4x2 Mercedes-Benz Arocs. Underneath, the
transmission and suspension components are detailed in plastic,
with the steering functionally modelled. The tyres are mounted on good looking wheels.
The cab has a beacon light bar on the roof, and the
Arocs grille looks convincing. Number plates are
included, and the Sennebogen graphics are reasonably
sharp.
Behind the cab the wheel arches on the rear wheels are
plastic, but there are no coiled lines. The rear lights have plastic lenses.
The trailer is almost all metal. Detail underneath is
fairly simple with the structure represented well, and
with hydraulic tanks for the self-raising axles. At the
front end there are two plastic landing legs, and there
is a further pair at the back for use in conjunction
with a pair of loading ramps.
The ramps are stored inside a holder forward of the
first axle. There is also a pair of pull-out width
markers under the gooseneck. The gooseneck has a metal
headboard arrangement and a spare wheel and there is a
simplified console arrangement.
The main trailer deck is all metal with the wood insert
panels painted on. Various tie down points are
represented within the casting but are not useable.
Plastic deck width extenders are modelled.
A set of metal deck posts is included.
Features
The tractor steering works very well, and a very hard
lock can be obtained if desired.
The cab does not tilt.
Counting from the front of the trailer, axle 1 steers
independently, and axles 3 to 6 have linked steering
which acts proportionally. All axles have a degree of
vertical movement as suspension, and axles 1 and 2 can
be raised and clipped out of service although the range
of movement is small.
The landing legs on the trailer can be pulled out and
lowered at both the front and the back.
The width markers under the gooseneck can be pulled out
and retracted.
A pair of ramps is stored within a holder and they are
accessed by an opening flap on each side of the
trailer. The ramps can be inserted into grooves at the
rear for loading mobile equipment.
The gooseneck can be angled using the very stiff
hydraulic cylinders modelled.
The trailer is extendible, and there is a travelling
transverse beam which can be positioned to support a
load.
Pull out deck width extenders are provided but there are
no spanning deck sections supplied with the model.
Deck posts can be installed.
Quality
This is a
reasonable quality model which is robust.
The paintwork and graphics are
mostly very good.
Price
The model is moderate value for the quality and features offered.
Overall
This is a nicely presented model for Sennebogen.
The trailer is an old casting so the detailing is not up
to modern standards, but overall it is a typically solid
Conrad model.
Footnotes
The model was introduced at the Bauma
Exhibition in April 2019.
