Comment on this model.

This model is from the Corgi Hauliers of Renown series.  It is a Mercedes Actros Tractor and Refrigerated Trailer and it is in the colours of Montgomery Refrigeration, a division of Montgomery Transport which is headquartered in Northern Ireland.

Packaging

The model comes in typical high quality Corgi packaging.  The box has a high gloss finish with a photo of the model, and inside the model is contained within an expanded polystyrene tray with a clear plastic lid.

There was no damage or missing parts on the review model.

Included with the model is a Collector Card which gives some background to the livery.  It also has the unique serial number for the model within the production run.

The only assembly required is to attach the mirrors and aerials to the cab.

Detail

The Mercedes-Benz Actros 2546 6x2 is relatively heavy as it is nearly all metal.  Underneath there is some simple detailing of the transmission system but other parts are modelled simply.  The tyres are the same on each wheel and the wheels are nicely detailed.

The Actros cab has the distinctive front including good lights and a number plate.  Roof aerials are thin and the door mirrors look accurate.  Interior detail is basic.  The quality of the graphics is excellent and includes a fleet number on each wing.  Behind the cab, there are metal wheel arches and a set of black air lines.  At the rear the light clusters are painted and the mud flaps are rendered in very thin flexible plastic.

The trailer has a simple chassis with nice wheels and the support legs have plastic cams.  At the rear the lights are nicely painted and there are thin plastic mud flaps on the rear axle.

The refrigeration unit at the front is plastic and has simple details.  However the main attribute of the trailer is the excellent graphics which are exceptionally sharp and clear.  At the rear the door detailing is very good as are the graphics.

Features

The tractor rolls well but does not have working steering.  The second axle wheels are slightly loose on their bearings but they can be posed satisfactorily.

The trailer can stand on its support legs with the cam feet rotated down.

The airlines can be connected between the tractor and trailer although it is a little difficult to fit.

Quality

The model is solid with a high metal content and is made well.

The paintwork and graphics are to a very high standard.

Price

The model is good value overall.

Overall

Corgi has produced a very good looking model and the quality of the graphics on the trailer is excellent.  Although the feature count is limited it is an easy model to recommend.
