The Caterpillar 906 is a small electric wheel loader.  It weighs 6.2 tonnes.

Packaging

The model comes in the usual High Line Series packaging.  There is an outer shipping carton which contains a tin which is protected by a nylon bag.  The tin is high quality and includes pictures and details about the real machine.

The review model had no missing parts or defects.

A sheet describing how to install the operator and a pair of tongs for the task is included.

Detail

The underside has some detailing with the transmission drive shaft modelled in plastic. The tyres have a good tread pattern which are mounted on detailed plastic wheels.

At the rear the radiator grille has the Cat logo and there is a finely detailed towing hitch.  The lights are painted.  The side panels have blue electric logos any other tiny graphics add detail.

The cab is a good looking plastic part and the interior is very detailed for the small size. The standard Diecast Masters figure can be installed.

The pivot point includes tiny steering rams, but, there are no hydraulic hoses / cables visible.

At the front there are lights mounted on plastic stalks, and the loader arm hydraulic rams have hydraulic hoses.

The loader arms are simple and the connection rivets are painted.

The simple bucket is a metal casting with a nice Cat logo at each end.

Features

The model rolls very smoothly.

Steering across the pivot point achieves a moderate angle.

The bucket has a decent carry angle.   The lift height is enough for a standard European tipper but the tipping angle is a little shallow.

The bucket is detachable.

The operator figure can be installed or left out.

Quality

It is a nice quality model.

The paintwork is very good and the graphics are sharp.

Price

It is moderately priced.

Overall

As a first model of an electric Cat machine this is a nice representation of the real wheel loader.  The removable bucket is a nice touch and the model would be good with some forks and other tools.

Footnotes

The model was shipped from June 2025.
