This is a model of the Mack Super-Liner Day Cab in the
colours of Mactrans.
Packaging
The model comes in a cardboard outer shipping carton
enclosing a very nice Mack branded Super-Liner box. Inside,
the model is contained
within high quality foam.
There were no missing parts or defects on the review model.
A reprint of an original Mack Super-Liner marketing
brochure is included. It is glossy and high
quality.
A numbered Certificate of Authenticity is included, with
the production run being 750 models.
Assembly is limited adding a towing hitch and fitting the optional signs.
A plastic pointer tool is also included.
Out of the box the bullbar is pinned so over
enthusiastic collectors should not try to force the
bullbar down.
Detail
The chassis is very detailed
underneath with the
transmission and suspension fully modelled. The
rear leaf springs look realistic. Struts
between the large tanks are added. The tyres have a
different tread pattern on the front and rear axles
although there is no tyre branding, and the wheels have
excellent decoration. There are flexible mud flaps all
round.
The cab looks great with its first class art work. The bull bar and radiator have finely etched
metal grilles, and there is a gold Mack Bulldog mascot.
On the roof the horns have Mack etched on them. Under
the hood is a very detailed engine, with many separate components
and some of thema re chromed. The interior detailing of
the cab is very good although hard to see.
The air cleaners have beacon lights, and the exhaust stacks
are first class. The large fuel tanks have
excellent gold filler caps.
Behind the cab, there are coiled lines and excellent
non-slip walking surfaces. The artwork on the back of
the cab is great and the quality and accuracy of the pin
striping is marvellous.
The soft mud flaps have Mactrans graphics applied.
Features
The front wheels have steering with a very
good range of movement possible. Allaxles
have excellent suspension and the model rolls smoothly
enough.
The hood and bull bar tilt forward to a good angle.
The cab doors can be
opened to about 45º and inside the seats have an air ride action and
can be moved up and down.
The fifth wheel has a spring loaded lever to secure a trailer
in position. It can also be adjusted longitudinally
a small amount.
Quality
This is a very high quality Drake model with a high
metal content.
The paint work and the graphics are excellent.
Price
It is
good value for a special limited edition.
Overall
This is another excellent limited edition truck model by Drake
Collectibles. As well as the usual high quality
detail and features, the quality of the artwork stands
out.
