This DVD is by Keith Haddock and is a Region 2,4 PAL video in English.

The second disc in the Massive Machines series is complimentary to the first and covers another mine in Wyoming, Balck Thunder, and the Garzweiler mine in Germany.  Like the first disc, both of these are opencast coal mines.

The machines featured are even larger, and include lots of footage about the Bucyrus 2570 walking dragline and giant bucket wheels by O&K and others.  These machines are filmed in depth and include views from the cab, and inside the machine house of the Bucyrus.

The Bucyrus 495HR and P&H 2800 are shown also, and the haul trucks featured are the Caterpillar 793D, Liebherr T282 and Komatsu 930E.  Amongst the other equipment shown working is a Le Tourneau L-1800 wheel loader and Cat 657E scraper.

The quality of the film and the sound recording is good.

As with the first disc the commentary is authoritative, with plenty of facts and figures about the machines and mines.  The scale of the operation in Germany is also apparent as the coal is transported and sorted.

It would have been interesting to hear from some of the people working in the mines.  With that said, these mines and equipment are inaccessible to the public so for anyone wanting to see the real machines in action this DVD is highly recommended.
