This review is of a model of a Mack Titan Tri-axle.

It is in the colours of Perkins Specialized Transportation.

Packaging

It comes in an outer shipping carton which encloses a Mack branded box.  The model is held within a pair of factory sealed expanded polystyrene trays.

There were no missing parts or defects on the review model.

Included is a plastic pointer and a bag containing parts including spare mirrors which are a thoughtful touch. Another accessory bag contains parts for the ballast box.

There is no information about the real truck but a simple instruction sheet describes the lift axle functionality of the model.

Detail

The chassis is very detailed including the drive train, and hoses run to the rear axles.  The tyres have a good tread pattern but there is no branding in the side walls. The wheels are very detailed and look smart.

On top of the hood is a silver bulldog mascot, and a high point is the excellent artwork decoration.  A choice of towing hitches can be fitted and a licence plate can be fitted as an option.   The engine is impressive being made up of a number of different parts.

The cab roof has a beacon light array and air horns and other lights. There is also an air conditioning unit with an excellent etched grille. There is a very thin aerial and chrome mirrors.

The interior is highly detailed including an excellent console and a Mack logo on the floor.

Outside the cab are textured steps and the exhaust stacks have decent looking holes.  The various tanks are detailed and some filler caps are highlighted.

Behind the cab there are lines for connection to a trailer and excellent non-slip walking surfaces.  At the rear there are lights, tiny tie-down loops, and various types of towing hitches can be fitted.

The metal ballast box has detailed graphics on the outside, and storage compartments on the inside.  Parts are supplied to include in the ballast box.  There are spare tyres, timbers, road cones and others.

A metal towing bar is also included as an accessory along with an oversize load sign and fabric flags.

Features

The front wheels steer, with the steering achieving a very good range of movement.  There is working sprung suspension on all axles.

The lift axle can be raised and clipped out of service.

The hood opens to reveal the detailed engine.

The cab doors can be opened to a 45 degree angle.

The fifth wheel has a spring loaded lever to secure a trailer in position.  It can also be adjusted longitudinally.

Different towing hitches can be fitted front and rear.

Quality

This is high quality model, with a high metal content.

The paint work and artwork is top notch.

Price

It is a premium priced model of very high quality.

Overall

This is another excellent Mack Titan model from Heavy Haul Replicas.  It has customised parts to maximise accuracy, and the quality of the artwork is outstanding.
