The Develon DX 165 WR Wheeled Excavator has an operating weight of 17.5 tonnes.

Packaging

The model comes in a Develon-branded box  It is held within two plastic formers.

The review model had no missing parts or defects.

The box has some technical information about the real machine.

Detail

The undercarriage is simple underneath and is modelled for functionality rather than detail.  The wheels are detailed and the tyres have a good tread pattern.

The outrigger beam and blade are metal.

The cab is detailed with a plastic mirror and a light bar on the roof.  There is also a painted beacon light and small aerial.

Detailed graphics surround the body, and they give it a realistic appearance.  Lights and video cameras are on each side and rear.  The counterweight is nicely decorated.

Textured steps lead up on the the body roof, and the handrails are metal and realistically thin.

The hydraulics detailing is a highlight with pipes and hoses, including a line running for tool attachment.  The two piece boom, and stick, are detailed with rivets reflecting the real machine.

The bucket is a metal part.

Features

The wheels roll easily and there is moderate steering on one axle.  One axle also oscillates.

The blade and outrigger assemblies are separate parts which can be attached to the undercarriage.  However, the method of fixing allows some looseness so it is easy for the attachments to not stay level.

The blade can be raised and lowered, and there is a hinged protection plate also.  The outriggers can be raised or lowered.  With care, the model can just about be displayed wheels free.

The body rotates well.

There is an opening engine hatch which reveals a silvered engine underneath.

The range of movement on the two-piece boom, stick and bucket is very good.

The bucket is removable by undoing two nuts and bolts.

Quality

This is a nice quality model with a high metal content.

The paint finish is generally very good, and the graphics are sharp.

Price

It is reasonable value.

Overall

Develon is the new brand name for Doosan.  This is a very good rendition of the DX 165 WR in the new corporate decoration..
