The Jekko SPX328 is a mini crane designed for small
lifts usually in tight spaces. They are often used to
install cladding and glass in
commercial developments. It is battery operated
and can lift a maximum load of 2.8 tonnes with a maximum
height of lift of 12.8m.
The real machine is small so this model has been
produced in 1:18 scale.
Packaging
The model comes in a Jekko-branded box and
is
held within plastic formers.
The review model had no defects or missing parts.
A simple instruction card is included. A key is included
to operate the winch.
Detail
The underside is simple with a number of securing screws
visible. The rubber tracks have a tread pattern
and are in the standard black colour of the real
machine.
The track frames have the rollers indicated but they are
non-functional.
The body panels are nicely detailed with sharp graphics
and black highlighting of details such as handles and
hinges.
The outriggers are metal with the exception of the
hydraulic ram jackets. Each one is individually
numbered and there are sharp chevron graphics. The
connections are thin friction pins which are discrete.
The ram pistons are covered with protection bars.
The crane support includes a beacon light column with
painted lights.
The boom has twin rams and includes the winch option of
the real crane and a floodlight.
The boom sections are metal with thin walls.
The boom head includes a fixed hook and twin sheaves for
the winch hook. A separate single line hook block
is included for use with the winch.
Features
The rubber tracks can be rolled by hand but they are
very stiff and do not roll easily on a surface.
The outriggers can be folded out and each one can be set
at two angles of rotation and pinned into place.
The lower leg can also be set at one of two angles, and
there is a telescopic section which locks into place.
The rams are very stiff so the crane can be supported
with the tracks off the ground.
The model rotates easily.
Raising the boom the rams are stiff enough to hold
any pose.
Telescoping the boom is smooth and easy with a spring
clip to lock each boom section at maximum extension.
A key is used to operate the winch which relies on
friction as a brake.
The model has a fixed hook which can be locked out of
position to enable the winch hook to be used.
Quality
This model is well made with a high metal
content. It feels robust.
The paint finish is very good, and the
graphics are
sharp.
Price
It is moderate value.
Overall
It is good to see a high quality model of a
mini crane and IMC Models have made a very nice job of
it. The main plus point is the flexibility of the
various configuration options.
Footnotes
The model first appeared at the Bauma 2025
exhibition. |
