The Kobelco TKE750G Telescopic Boom Crawler Crane is a 75 tonne class crane with three winches which is particularly suited to foundation work.

Packaging

It comes in a Kobelco-branded box.  The model parts are wrapped in soft paper and are held within taped expanded polystyrene trays.

The review model had no defects or missing parts.

The manual is printed in English and Japanese and is excellent.  It describes the model, with clear photos and instructions.  Good quality tools are supplied to assemble and operate the model.

Detail

The metal tracks are nice castings and the track frames have lifting points with formed holes.  There are no working rollers.

There are four hydraulic jacks for use in self-assembly of the crane, and they have numbered posts.  The pistons have visible screw threads.

The cab has window wipers, and the interior detail is good.  Small graphics enhance the detailing around the cab although the signs are not legible.  Exterior walkways have patterned surfaces.

The body has cast in panel details, and there are small warning sign graphics.  Access ladders are metal, and black paint is used to highlight walkways.  At the front is the third winch and a beacon light and indicator light column.

The counterweight lifting mechanism is modelled and the top slab has lifting eyes.

The main boom ram has a plastic jacket.  The profile of the telescopic boom is very good with all sections having a distinctive pattern.  There is a full set of rope guides on the boom.  The sheaves on the model are metal.

Two alternative auxiliary sheave heads are provided.  A metal five sheave hook block is included along with two single line hooks.

Two Kobelco load plates are also provided.

Features

The tracks are spring loaded and roll freely.  The track frames are extendible, and removable.

The self-assembly jacks can be locked out of position or pinned vertically and the jacks unscrewed to raise the crane.

Walkways and ladders are removable to narrow the transport width.

The counterweight is removable.  The counterweight lifting system also raises although posing it placing the counterweight would be difficult.

Raising the boom is requires some effort as the ram is very stiff.

Telescoping the boom is smooth and easy with a spring clip to lock each boom section at maximum extension or 50%.

A key is used to operate the winches.  They are spring loaded with positive brakes.

Two different auxiliary heads can be fitted.  One option allows up to three hooks to be configured.

Quality

This model is very good quality with a high metal content.

The paint finish is very good, and the main graphics are sharp.

Price

It is good value for the flexibility of the model.

Overall

This is a flexible model by IMC which gives different display options and configurations.  The various features work well and the detailing is of a high standard too.
