This is a model of the Mercedes-Benz Arocs SLT
BigSpace.
It is a limited edition of 150 models, and is in the
colours of the UK haulage company
S A
Smith.
Packaging
The model comes in a high quality box delivered in a
S A Smith branded sleeve. Inside the box the
model is held in high quality foam.
The review model had no missing parts or defects.
A driver figure and alternate fifth wheel designed for
fatter king pins is included.
Detail
It has a detailed 8x4 chassis
with detailed steering. The
transmission components are modelled and the tyres are different on the steering and driven axles.
The wheels are very detailed and the hubs are
highlighted in red.
The model has a unique serial number plate fixed
underneath which is a better solution than a separate
card which may get separated from the model.
The cab has air horns and aerials on the roof together
with a nice light bar. The Arocs grille is
impressive with a high chrome finish. The many
graphics are very sharp and the name 'Black Eagle' is
printed above the windscreen. There is a number
plate and STGO plate.
Inside the cab tiny graphics are applied to the
instrument cluster.
Behind the cab the big equipment tower is a unique
design and has grab rails. There are coiled lines and a
nice grille on one side. Diamond plated surfaces are
modelled between the wheel arches and tiny Mercedes-Benz
graphics add detail.
At the back there is an Arocs SLT graphic and the lights
have plastic lenses.
A helmeted driver figure is included and he seems a
little on the small side.
Features
There is linked steering on the front axles with a
decent range of movement so some good poses can be
displayed.
The cab has opening doors. These work well, and
open to a reasonable angle.
The driver can be inserted in the cab, or not used.
Quality
This is a high quality model with a high metal
content.
The paint finish and graphics are high quality.
Price
It is a limited edition model, and is priced
accordingly.
Overall
This is a great looking Arocs SLT model.
The system of including the limited edition serial
number on the model is to be commended, and improves the
collectability and value in the long term.
Footnotes
The model appeared in 2020.
