The
Sany SAC2500Eis a 250 tonne class all terrain
crane. It has a main boom length of 75m, and a
maximum system length of 113m.
This model is sold by IMC Models but it is not made by
them.,
Packaging
The model comes in a
Sany-branded box with a carrying handle. The model parts are wrapped in soft
paper.
The review model had no missing parts or defects.
The
manual is comprehensive although it is in Chinese.
However, numerical information such as parts bag numbers
can be read. Many photos describe the
functionality. There are no reeving diagrams
for the hook, but in reality reeving is simple. Tools
are supplied to assemble and operate the model.
Detail
The chassis is detailed with the transmission
fully modelled. The tyres are very good with
a fine tread pattern and they are mounted on nice
wheels.
The driving cab has a hitch for the hook whilst
travelling although no chains are supplied, and the cab is nicely detailed throughout. Door
mirrors, windscreen wipers and beacon lights complete
the external detail.
Behind the driving cab the engine area has
high quality metal work, and there are two movable deck
ladders.
The two stage outriggers are metal and the pistons have
visible screw threads which also seem thin.. The pads
are metal. Tiny graphics on the outrigger posts add to
the realism.
At the rear of the carrier the lights have plastic lenses.
The crane cab has a window wiper, and the interior
detail is good. Grab rails are metal with a plastic
grille on top. The exhaust system is finely
modelled.
The counterweight slabs accurately comprise a full
configuration. Each slab is nicely formed with lifting
points.
The main boom ram is a metal part. Detailing on the boom includes a couple
of plastic spooling drums. The inner telescope sections have a
realistic profile with thin walls. At the boom head the
sheaves are metal. A hoist cut-off chain is provided.
A lattice fly jib with swing away section is included.
It is metal and the lattice work is good and includes a
ram for setting offset angles.
A single three sheave hook block is included and it is
good. It would be nice if the model had a separate smaller
hook to complement the fly jib.
A Sany load plate is included.
Features
Axles 1 and 2 are linked , and all axles have sprung
suspension .
Ladders on the carrier deck can be rotated and lowered
and this works well.
The outriggers can be extended and lowered, but the outrigger
beams are not quite straight under load.
The operator's cab can be tilted to a good angle.
The counterweight system can be fitted in various
configurations, including part being mounted on the
carrier deck during self-assembly.
Raising the boom is easy as the locking mechanism on the
main boom ram is by means of using a supplied key
tightening screws and this works well.
Telescoping the boom is smooth and easy with a spring
clip to lock each boom section. It has locking
positions at 46% and 92%.
A key is used to operate the main winch and it has a
positive brake system.
The fly jib can be attached and posed in two lengths.
Altering the fly jib angle uses rams but it relies on
friction and is not quite stiff enough.
Quality
This model is well made and very good quality.
It has a high metal content.
The paint finish is very good.
Price
It is decent value for a mid-size mobile crane.
Overall
This is a heavy and solid model of the
Sany SAC2500E. It is generally well engineered and
looks good in the Sany corporate colours.
Footnotes
The model appeared on the IMC website at the end of
2025. |
