This is a model of the Mammoet Mercedes-Benz Arocs 8x4
with a Ballast Box equipped with a
Fassi Loader Crane.
Packaging
The model comes in a high quality box enclosed by a Mammoet-branded sleeve
with a photo of the real real truck. Inside the box the
model is held in high quality foam.
The review model had no missing parts or defects.
A uniquely numbered Mammoet certificate is also
included, but there is no information about the real
truck.
Detail
The Arocs has a detailed 8x4 chassis. The
transmission components are modelled and the tyres are different on the steering and driven axles.
The wheels are very detailed and the hubs are
highlighted in red.
The cab has air horns and an aerial on the roof together
with a nice light bar. The Arocs grille is impressive
and it has a fixed Convoi Exceptionnel sign. The many
graphics are very sharp and there is a fleet number on
the cab. There is a realistic number
plate .
Behind the cab there is a big equipment tower which
looks great, and there are
coiled lines. Diamond
plated surfaces are in front of the fifth wheel.
At the rear the lights have lenses and the mud flaps
have graphics.
A driver is included as a separate part. It is detailed
with Mammoet printed on the back.
The ballast box has plastic inserts on top with the rest
being metal. The graphics are sharp.
On the rear of the ballast box is a small Fassi Loader Crane.
It is mainly metal with some nice details. Lifting
chains are included with the model.
Features
The Arocs has very good steering movement.
A separate fifth wheel is provided so the tractor can
accommodate trailers with a larger kingpin.
The cab has opening doors. These work well, and
open to a good angle.
The driver can be inserted in the cab, but it is fiddly
to do so.
The ballast box can be fitted, or left off.
The Fassi crane can be rotated and posed in a lifting
position and it has a telescopic section too.
The outrigger beams can be removed and rotated to lower
the pads. However, the pistons have a limited
extension and are well short of reaching the ground.
Quality
This is a high quality model with a high metal
content.
The paint finish and graphics are also high quality.
A consequence of the tolerance in the hinges of the
opening doors is that graphics can sometimes appear
misaligned.
Price
It is a limited edition and is reasonable
value.
Overall
This is another excellent Mercedes-Benz Arocs model and
it looks great in the Mammoet colour scheme.
