The Sany Reachstacker is used in container handling applications.

This model is in the colours of Mammoet, the Dutch heavy lifting and haulage specialists.  It is marketed and distributed by IMC Models but it is not made by them.  The original model in Sany colours was made by Sunraise Classic Models.

Packaging

The model comes in a Mammoet-styled box, and the model is securely contained within two plastic formers.  It is secured by a couple of twist ties.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

A numbered Mammoet Collector Card is included.

There is no information about the real machine.

Detail

Underneath there is some detailing of the drive shaft and front axle.   The large tyres have got a decent tread pattern and the wheels have coloured hubs.

At the back there are chevron and Mammoet graphics with nice looking lights.

The sides have grilles are formed within the casting.  There is a Mammoet fleet number.  A smooth surfaced platform has stairs leading up.  The handrails are plastic which are a little thick for the scale.

At the front there are grilles and nice lights.

The large cab has a detailed interior and the window have large windscreen wipers. Outside the cab, walkway surfaces are textured and flexible control cables are modelled.

The boom rams have plastic jackets, and there are a number of soft hydraulic hoses running to the rear of the boom.  Hydraulics detailing along the boom includes pipes within the casting and there is an extending cable.   The main boom is metal with Mammoet graphics.

The spreader is almost entirely metal with just the hydraulic ram jackets in plastic.  The detailing is very good.

Features

It rolls smoothly and the rear axle has steering which reaches a decent angle, but not as much as the real machine.

The cab can move forward on rails from the parking position in order to provide improved visibility.

The boom rams are very stiff and can hold any pose.

The counterweight can be slid backwards a little to increase the lifting capacity.

The telescopic boom slides smoothly.

The spreader can be extended and can be angled to suit the boom angle, and also rotates fully.

Unfortunately the scaling of the spreader is not accurate so it is a little over long to pose with a 20ft container.

Quality

This a well made model, with a high metal content.

The paintwork is nice and the graphics are very sharp.

Price

It is a moderate price for a large model.

Overall

This is an unusual model and it is well made if not to the highest standards in terms of detail.  It looks good but it is disappointing that it has not been scaled accurately to pose with standard 20ft containers.
