The Liebherr 1500-8.1 mobile crane can be configured
with a 50m or 84m main boom. This upgrade
set converts the original model to the 84m boom version.
It also includes two hook blocks and a lifting beam.
The set is in the colours of the
International lifting company Mammoet.
Packaging
The kit comes in a Mammoet-branded outer sleeve with the
inner box having foam rubber inside. The model
parts are wrapped in soft paper.
There were no missing parts
or defects on the review kit.
Unusually, the kit does not have a Mammoet Collector Card.
No instructions are included.
Detail
The boom sections are of the same high quality as the
original model. The profile is realistic and they
have a two-tone finish.
The boom head has formed connections for a fly jib
attachment, and that includes holes for securing pins.
The two metal hook blocks are excellent, with
free-rolling sheaves and useable tying-off points.
One has 3 sheaves and the other 8 (not 7 as stated
on the box). The larger block has a rotating hook.
The metal lifting beam is nicely decorated, and has wire
strops.
Features
The boom sections have locking points at
approximately 50%, and 100%.
The 84m boom configuration is more realistic
when used for lifting duties such as tower crane
erection, and it looks great with a 1:87 tower crane
model.
It should be noted there is insufficient rope
on the main winch drum to enable a multi-sheave hook
block to reach ground level with an extended boom.
Quality
This is a high quality kit which matches the quality of
the original model.
The paintwork and graphics are generally excellent.
Price
It is fully priced.
Overall
This kit enhances the flexibility of the original model
and is a worthwhile addition.
