This is a Volvo FH16 6x2 Tractor.
This version of the model is one of the Red Line series,
and it is the one of the first Volvo FH16 models from
MarGe in 1:32 scale.
Packaging
The model comes in a Nooteboom branded box which holds the
model within plastic formers inside an expanded
polystyrene tray.
The review model had no
defects or missing pieces.
A small leaflet is included and it describes some
features of the model. A Collector Card is also
included.
Detail
The chassis is detailed with a number of parts modelled
in plastic. This includes the engine sump and
gearbox where the joint between parts is quite visible. The tyres are mounted on good looking wheels,
with a different tread pattern on the steered wheels.
A nice detail is the soft and flexible mud flaps.
The cab roof has a nice light bar and aerials which are
made of soft plastic. The roof light is tinted,
but see-through. The Volvo grille has very nice
metal mesh detailing. There are colour-coded door
mirrors.
Number plates are included, and a nice touch is that a
sheet of alternative number plates is included and these
can be applied as desired.
The Red Line colour scheme is
very attractive as always, and the Nooteboom graphics
are sharp.
The interior detail is very good and under the cab the
engine is made of a number of plastic parts.
Behind the cab there are coiled lines, tanks and the
wheel arches on the rear wheels are plastic. The rear
lights have plastic lenses.
Features
There is linked steering on the first two axles with a
moderate angle of steer achievable.
The cab tilts to reveal an engine
block underneath, but the range of tilt is restricted before
resistance is felt, and the tilt cannot be maintained in
a pose.
The cab doors open and the mechanism is very nice as
they shut with a satisfying clunk.
Quality
This is a
satisfyingly heavy large model.
The paintwork and graphics are
very good.
Price
The model is good value.
Overall
It is unusual to see a larger scale model of a European
truck, and it is interesting that Nooteboom has branded
this one from MarGe Models. It has been
implemented well and goes very well with a matching
Nooteboom trailer.
Footnotes
The
model was announced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in 2018
and became available in December of that year. It
was also produced in other colours.
