Comment on this model.

The Volvo P6820C ABG is a tracked paver with an operating weight of 15 tonnes.  It has a maximum paving width of 10m and an output of up to 700 tonnes per hour.

Packaging

The packaging is a Volvo-branded outer sleeve enclosing clear plastic trays which allow the model to be seen.  Strangely twist ties have been used to secure the model to the inner tray.  A good photo of the real machine is printed on the reverse side.

There were no missing parts or manufacturing defects on the review model.

There is no information about the real machine or model included.

Detail

The small metal tracks look good with detailed track shoes.  The track frames are simple and there are scrapers at the front.  Underneath there is a large rubber material belt and this is also visible in the floor of the hopper.  Two plastic material screws reside within the screed.

The hopper has metal sides and there are rollers to engage delivery truck wheels.

The engine covers are metal with textured grilles and a plastic exhaust pipe above.

The operator's area has metal handrails and two seats, and the grilles on the sides are see-through which is nice.  The control console is very well detailed with graphics and it is fixed in a central position, rather than being able to swing in front of the seats.  At the back is a pleasant small hose reel.  The roof canopy has painted beacon lights and nice small work lights.

The screed has a textured surface and metal extending cylinders.  The screed control units have detailed graphics with a very realistic look.

Features

The tracks are stiff and can be rolled by hand.

The rubber material belt can be turned as can the two material screws.

The hopper sides can be folded to a closed position to push in material, and opened out.

The operator's seats can be slid outwards a little to give the operator a better view forward.   The canopy roof has extending sun screens.

The screed can be raised and lowered.  It can also be slid open to an extended width.

Quality

This is a good quality model which is well made.

The graphics and paint are very good.

Price

The model price is fair value.

Overall

This is a reasonable paver model with some decent functionality.  It is not ideal as a transport load as the canopy cannot be lowered but it is recommended to collectors of Volvo models.

Footnotes

The model first became available in February 2014.
