The Klemm KR 806-3GS is a drilling rig typically used
for installing ground anchors in foundation
engineering.
It has an operating weight of around 20 tonnes.
The model features a double headed drilling unit which
can be used for cased bore holes.
Packaging
The model comes in a Klemm branded box.
Inside the model is wrapped in soft paper and contained
within expanded polystyrene trays.
There were no missing parts or defects on the review
model.
A leaflet describes the real machine in German and
English, and it also makes reference to the model.
A screwdriver is included and a bag containing spare
track links.
Detail
The base of the machine has no particular detail. The tracks are metal and are made up of delicate
links with bolt head detailing. The track frames
have good detail and include graphics and paint
highlighting.
The control console is highly detailed and has tiny
control levers.
Detailing on the body includes sharp graphics and these
are used for the grilles and small warning signs.
There is a red box at the back and a metal exhaust pipe
on top.
A very nice detail is the high pressure hose which has
been modelled as a hose reel and a wand.
The
drilling mast is controlled by complex hydraulics and
some hoses are modelled. The mast is metal and has
sharp graphics and there is delicate detailing of the
rams which control the drilling motor and casing clamp.
The hydraulics detailing is excellent with hoses running
to the flexible power band and hoses running to the
drilling motors.
The drilling rod has a highlighted tip.
Features
The tracks can be moved by hand but they are very
stiff. They are mounted on pivoting frames which can
allow for uneven ground surfaces.
The control console has double hinges and folds out, and
also has up and down movement.
The hydraulic rams which control the drilling mast are
complex and they work very well to enable the drill mast
to be placed at any angle.
The drill motor slides on the mast, and the mast slides
on its support. Both connections can be tightened
in place using the included screwdriver. A
casing clamp can also be moved along the mast.
Quality
This is a high quality model with a very good finish.
The metal content is high and the paint and graphics are
also excellent.
Price
The price reflects the intricate model engineering.
Overall
This is an excellent model of a complex machine, and it
is nice to have another model from the foundation
engineering sector.
Footnotes
The model was announced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in
January 2020 and the model became available two months
later.
