Good load.

The Liebherr L 586 is a large wheel loader with an operating weight of around 33 tonnes.  The bucket capacity can be up to 8.5m³ and the tipping load is 22.5 tonnes.

The XPower range of wheel loaders was introduced in 2016 and feature a fuel efficient driveline.

Packaging

The model comes in a standard Liebherr box with the model held in a pair of expanded polystyrene trays.

There were no defects or missing parts on the review model.

There is no assembly to do and there is no information about the real machine.

Detail

The underside detail is quite good with drive shafts and differentials modelled.  The wheels have very good metal hubs and the heavily treaded tyres have 'Good Year' moulded into the side walls.

The cab detailing is nice with windscreen wipers and plastic mirrors, and the windows have delicate looking frames.  The grab rails around the cab are metal.  The access steps have a textured surface with fine gauge metal hand rails on each side.

At the rear the metal handrails are very good, with this version of the machine only having hand rails on one side.  The engine cover has grilles with textured surfaces.  The exhaust pipe looks good although it does not have a hole.  The rear lights are painted.

There are no hydraulic hoses crossing the pivot point.

The front wheel arches no longer have the wheel chocks of previous versions.

The loader arms are connected with thin pins and the bucket tilt cylinder has hydraulic lines running to it.

The bucket is nice with very good teeth and wear plates but there are no see through slots at the top for driver visibility.

Features

The rear axle has significant amount of pivot so it can be posed running over very rough terrain with all tyres grounded.  The wheels share a common axle so they rotate as pairs.

The articulation to allow steering works well with a moderate angle being possible.

At the front the loader arms can lift the bucket to well above the cab height and a good tipping angle can be obtained.  A very good carry angle can be achieved as well as a good cut angle.  The cylinders are stiff and hold any pose set.

Quality

This is a high quality model with few plastic parts.

The paintwork and graphics are very good.

Price

It is reasonable value.

Overall

This is the 2019 revision of the earlier L 586 wheel loader with a few largely changes on the real machine.  It remains a high quality wheel loader from NZG.

Footnotes

This version of the model was introduced after the Bauma Exhibition in 2019.
