The Vögele Super 2100-5i Tracked Paver has a maximum paving width of up to 14m and can lay up to 1100 tonnes of material per hour.

This version of the model represents the dash 5 generation of Vögele pavers.  It comes with a fixed long screed.

Packaging

The model comes in a Vögele branded box.  Inside, the model is enclosed between expanded polystyrene trays.

The review model had no defects or missing parts.

The model comes with what appears to be a radio beacon which can be installed on the canopy roof.  Some spare track links are also included.

Detail

The plastic tracks are very good including bolt heads in the pads and scrapers at the front.  There is a long non-functioning spreader auger on the underside.  The small track frames have graphics applied.

At the front the hopper belt is represented within the metal casting and the hopper sides are also metal with very sharp graphics.  There are some pivoting but non-functioning rollers for engaging the wheels of a discharging tipper, and there are docking graphics.

The body has deep grilles and many small warning sign graphics.  There are  textured floors in the operator's area, and a fine mesh grille behind the steps.  The operator's control console is finely detailed for such a small part.  There are see-through sides.  The canopy above is metal with plastic extensions.  There are PaveDock signal blocks on the mirror assemblies.   The hand rails are metal and realistically sized.

There is a detailed engine under the various opening panel doors.

The long screed has more textured surfaces and high quality handrails.  The cylinders to extend the screed are two stage but have been modelled as a single piece which is an acceptable modelling compromise.  The side supports for the screed are plastic and the top supports are metal.

Each end of the screed has a computer console and these are very finely detailed.

Features

The tracks roll easily and are tensioned by spring-loaded idlers.  The front deflectors can move on their mountings.

At the front the rollers are on a sliding arrangement.

The hopper sides can close in to force material onto the belt.

Both operator's seats can be rotated out to provide a better view forwards, and the roof canopy above can be extended to provide shelter.  The console can move on a rail from side to side and it also rotates to face the seat.

The canopy roof and linked exhaust pipe can be lowered to provide a reduced headroom for travelling on a transport vehicle.  However, the model cannot be posed as a transport load because of the fixed long screed.

There are three opening engine covers which reveal a detailed engine.

The screed can be raised and lowered, and can be extended on both sides for width.

Quality

This is a very high quality paver model by NZG which is almost all metal.

It has excellent paint and graphics.

Price

It is good value.

Overall

This latest generation of Vögele pavers by NZG maintains the very standards or previous models. Although not as flexible as other models because it cannot be used as a load, it looks great posed with related models.
