The Hamm HC 200 is a vibratory compactor with an
operating weight of 19.2 tonnes. It is in
accordance with the EPA Tier 3 emissions standard.
Hamm is part of the Wirtgen
Group of companies.
Packaging
It comes in a Hamm branded box with
the model held within
two expanded polystyrene trays, and wrapped in soft
paper.
There no information about the real machine.
The model is complete out of the box.
Detail
Underneath, the detail includes a drive shaft running to
the rear axle, and twin steering hydraulic rams are
modelled. The metal rear wheels have highlighted bolt
heads which look really good, and the large
rubber tyres have a good tread pattern. Scrapers
are present on the front and rear edges of the drum.
At the rear the body casting has indented painted grille positions
which are are not see-through. The rear lights are
nicely painted and there are Wirtgen and Hamm logos at the
back. A realistic looking exhaust pipe has a
blackened hole.
Silvered steps lead up to the cab and there is a good
looking metal grab rail which is painted orange.
Mirror assemblies are plastic as are the small work
lights at the rear. Fine gauge windscreen wipers
are modelled. Looking inside the
cab the details are good, including controls and seat.
At the front the support frame has indented bolt
positions and there are sharp graphics all around.
.The smooth drum is metal, with detailed sides.
Features
The rubber tyres roll nicely and the drum is smooth
in action.
The pivoted steering is stiff and achieves an angle
of around 30º. It has some oscillation at the
pivot point.
Quality
This a high quality model which is nearly all metal.
The paintwork and graphics are very good finish.
Price
It is reasonable value.
Overall
Although lacking the functionality of some other Wirtgen
Group models, this is a quality robust replica. It
would pose well as a transport load or in a diorama.
Footnotes
The model first appeared for the BAUMA 2022
exhibition. It was also made in a HC 200i C version as
model #10411.
