The Hamm HC 119 is a vibratory compactor with an operating weight of 11.5 tonnes.  It is in accordance with the EPA Tier 3 emissions standard.

Hamm is part of the Wirtgen Group of companies.

Packaging

It comes in a Hamm branded box with the model held within two expanded polystyrene trays, and wrapped in soft paper.

There no information about the real machine.

The model is complete out of the box.

Detail

Underneath, the detail consists of a simple baseplate, and twin steering hydraulic rams are modelled.  The metal rear wheels have highlighted bolt heads which look really good, and the large soft rubber tyres have a good tread pattern.

At the rear the body casting has indented painted grille positions which are are not see-through.  The rear lights are nicely painted and there are Wirtgen and Hamm logos at the back.  A realistic looking exhaust pipe has a blackened hole.

Plain steps lead up to the open cab area and there are metal hand rails which look slightly thick.  Mirror assemblies are plastic.  The cab details are good, including controls and seat.

At the front the support frame has highlighted bolt positions and there are sharp graphics all around.  .The smooth drum is metal, with plain sides.  Scrapers are present on the front and rear edges of the drum.

Features

The rubber tyres roll nicely and the drum is smooth in action.

The pivoted steering is stiff and achieves an angle of around 30º.  There is no oscillation at the pivot point.

Quality

This a high quality model which is mainly all metal.

The paintwork and graphics are very good finish.

Price

It is reasonable value.

Overall

Although lacking the functionality of some other Wirtgen Group models, this is a quality robust replica.  It would pose well as a transport load or in a diorama.

Footnotes

The model first appeared for the BAUMA 2022 exhibition.  It was also made in a HC 119i version as model #10421.
