Baljer & Zembrod make a variety of material handling
machines which are used in the wood processing and scrap
recycling industries.
Packaging
The model comes in a
Baljer & Zembrod branded box.
Inside the model is wrapped in soft paper and rests in a polystyrene tray.
There were no missing parts or defects on the review
model.
It is fully assembled and spare pins are included.
There is no information about the model or the real
machine.
Detail
The underside of the pedestal is simple with the NZG
logo and model number. There are levelling jacks
at each corner which have visible screw threads.
The cab has windscreen
wipers and the windows have detailed frames and seals.
Interior detail is very good with graphics on the
console computer screen. It looks a little odd that the
model has no means of access to the cab via ladder or
platform.
The curved counterweight
has the Baljer & Zembrod etched at the back.
At the boom foot there are many soft rubber hydraulic
hoses running to the boom.
The hydraulics on the boom and stick are
complex with
many soft hoses and silver pipes. The connection pins are very
small.
Both the orange peel grab and timber grab are all-metal
parts.
Features
The jacks on the pedestal can be adjusted for height by
unscrewing.
The model rotates smoothly.
The cab is removable. It is held in place by pegs
and tiny magnets. A blanking plate can be fitted
after the cab is removed.
The movement of the boom and stick is very good with a
pleasant stiffness in the rams. The model is stable at full reach
if unloaded.
The grabs are interchangeable by taking out one pin.
Both tools rotate, and
can be opened and closed.
Quality
This is a high quality model with a high metal content.
The paint and graphics are
excellent.
Price
The model is reasonable value.
Overall
This is
an interesting and unusual model from NZG. In some
respects it is simple, but it is well engineered and
looks very good.
Footnotes
The model appeared in NZG's Newsletter in September 2022.
